この度弊廊では2回目となる松村咲希による個展を開催します。
今展では絵画空間のなかに、奇妙に浮遊するようにある二次元的な円を描いた作品群、またそこに至るまでの張り付けられた円あるいは円形キャンバス作品などを展観いたします。

コロナ禍のstay homeで、ふと”円”を描くことに興味が湧いてきたという松村。
“円”は外部からのストレス耐性の強い形といわれ、コロナ禍の中での心境の変化とも言えるのかもしれない。
松村が愛読する、エクスキュル／クリサート著「生物から見た世界」には”環世界は生き物が特有の知覚を通し世界を感じているということ、またそのために周囲の環境や世界というものは本当の意味では客観的には捉えられないということ”とある。
この環世界という概念を円形に込めて、厚みのある円形のキャンバスパネルを使用すると、その周囲からぽこりと浮いた円の存在を深く考えるようになったと松村は語る。
コロナ禍で否応なく改変された私たちの価値観は、シャボン玉のように閉じられた孤独感の中で浮遊しどこへ向かうのか。その行き先を問う私たちに、松村の作品はどう答えるのか。

We are pleased to present the second solo exhibition of Saki Matsumura at our gallery.
In this exhibition, we will present a group of works depicting two-dimensional circles that seem to be strangely floating in the painting space, as well as circles or circular canvases that have been attached to the paintings leading up to the circles.

Matsumura says that she suddenly became interested in painting “circles” while staying home from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Circles are said to be a form that is highly resistant to external stress, and it may be said that this is a change in her state of mind during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the book “Streifzüge durch die Umwelten von Tieren und Menschen: Ein Bilderbuch unsichtbarer Welten” by Uexkull which Matsumura loves to read, it is written that “Umwelt means that living creatures perceive the world through their unique perception, and because of this, the surrounding environment and world cannot be grasped objectively in a real sense.
Matsumura says that this concept of Umwelt was put into the circle, and that the use of the bulky circular canvas panel made her think deeply about the existence of the circle that floated out from its surroundings.
Where are our values, which have been undeniably altered by the Covid-19 pandemic, floating like soap bubbles in a sense of closed solitude, headed? How do Matsumura’s works respond to our questioning of where they are headed?
